Here in Hussiedom we walk our talk.. the talk being, natch, news, views, snits, bits, quips and gaffes about this, that and some of the other over there... and that other includes, natch, GOSSIP!

Yes, darlings, we are carrying on the glittering tradition of women who give good talk, like famed gossip maven Hedda Hopper, who long ago went to that great Cocktail Party Gab Fest in the sky. She was 76 and had had QUITE a life, darlings...

Talk about reinventing one's self...Waaaaaaay before Madonna was doing it every WEEK it seems, Hedda had transformed her original self ~~ Alda Furry is the moniker she started out with ~~ into one of the first media stars with her own style (capped , so to speak, by her lust for outrageous millinery), gossip columns they rivetted the powers~that~be in Hollywood AND the public, and her I'll~say~whatEVAH~I~want~so~get~over~it attitude.

Here are some quotes from Hedda (Hopper, not the Ibsen play "Hedda Gabler", although we are SOOO well rounded ~~ in loads of ways ~~ we thought it best to qualify where these quotes are coming from...)

"Nobody's interested in sweetness and light." (Exactamente! Which is why we always say if THAT's what you want, stay out of Hussiedom and get thee to a well~lit candy store!)

(Dissing James Dean) "Another dirty shirttail actor from New York." (Well, we didn't say we always AGREED with Miss Hopper!)

"I can wear a hat or take it off, but either way it's a conversation piece."

"At one time I thought he wanted to be an actor. He had certain qualifications, including no money and a total lack of responsibility." (hmmmm...no, we DON'T know whom she was referring to.... an ex husband, perchance?)

"Two of the cruelest, most primitive punishments our town deals out to those who fall from favor are the empty mailbox and the silent telephone."

"In Hollywood, gratitude is Public Enemy Number One."

"You had to stand in line to hate him." (about legendary and ruthless Hollywood studio mogul Harry Cohn)
